ABOUT THE URBAN INTERVENTION

From midnight — 11:45 p.m. on June 3rd, 2017

It is estimated that postpartum mental health challenges affect 10-15% of Canadian women who have given birth. The Great Postpartum Check-In will be a concerted effort for the friends and family of women who have recently given birth to 'check-in' on their mom friend through a quick text, an email, a social media message or dropping by. We'd like Ottawa to pledge to make an extra effort on June 3rd to reach out and ask a new mom how they are doing, to let them know that they are cared for and that no struggle is too big to share with their closest supports. We hope that the Great Postpartum Check-In will help to bust stigma around mental health and kickstart conversation/reinforce grassroots community care for new parents across the city.
